Writing, Walking and Meditation Retreats 2014

In conjunction with Lynne Franks BlOOM RETREATS  http://www.bloomretreats.com/

Six day residential retreat in Lynne Franks home in Deia, Mallorca. A former monastery, the building is set on terraces planted with olives, vines, fruit trees and flowering shrubs. There are two pools with loungers, a yoga platform and mats, and a multitude of secluded areas for private contemplation. Walks will include down to the clear waters of Cala Deia through olive, citrus groves and sheep and up into the limestone mountains that surround the location. The mornings will consist of Mindfulness meditation, walks and writing workshops, afternoons include a visit to Robert Graves home, his grave in the village and the local archeological museum with plenty of time for individual relaxation. In a safe nurturing environment, in the company of  other like-minded writers, you will be given the space and time to look back and to plan forward.

All meals are healthy and delicious  and prepared from locally sourced fresh ingredients by a resident chef. The village with family run bars, some with live music, and small shops is a short walk away. Massage, Reiki and Tarot readings are also available. These retreats are open to men and women.

In the chaos of our lives we deserve a calm space, somewhere we can inscribe our hopes, our fears and the rhythm of our daily lives. In times of recession, we feel guilty about ‘wasting time’ day dreaming, imagining, playing with words, taking time out to look deep inside ourselves. Our ever increasing ‘to do’ list takes priority and our life and our family’s lives fly past, the small wonderments never recorded. We Instagram, we Tweet, we Facebook. We live our lives publicly, editing as we go. We need to strip away our protective public clothing and be honest with ourselves and invite our subconscious out onto the page. We need to write letters to our lovers, to our mothers, to ourselves. A hard copy remembrance. Our signatures, our handwriting is the expression of our individuality that we must preserve for future generations.

Sunday April 27 – Friday May 2

Friday October 3 – Wednesday October 8

Do I need writing experience?

Absolutely not

What do I need?

A sense of adventure and a desire to write down your life, on paper with a pen

What participants say:

“Elaine’s non-judgemental, relaxed approach meant our writing workshop, at Bloom in Deia recently, felt like a safe haven for shared stories, ideas and memories. My confidence in my ability to write grew under Elaine’s expert guidance, and the morning meditations which began each session seemed to spark a relaxed creativity and closeness in our group. Elaine’s enthusiasm for the written word is infectious and I left feeling newly inspired to pick up my pen.”  Catherine Eade, October 2013

“Elaine’s combination of mindfulness meditation, walks in the stunning local landscape and gently persuasive encouragement to keep pen to paper, released some interesting results from all those involved. A close, intimate group developed in which we felt able to share the sometimes surprising results of timed writing exercises and longer more thought-out pieces written on the basis of inspiring promptings. Whole-heartedly recommended.” Gilla Evans, October 2013
